The NACHS Educational Outreach Program has been created to help fulfill our purpose of presenting, promoting and preserving Celtic culture. The program consists of four key elements:
Information Boards listing interesting and relevant information about each of the eight Celtic regions we have chosen to celebrate. These attractive, freestanding boards are print versions of identical information found on our Website, www.nachs.info
Audio Recordings, or “sound bites” of distinctive music from each Celtic region. Listeners can hear the sound of the high-pitched Asturian bagpipe compared to the skirl of the Great Highland Scottish bagpipe, or the ethereal sound of an Irish harp compared to the power and grandeur of a Welsh choir. Borrower must provide cassette player).
Actual artifacts from each of the Celtic regions are displayed in two glass display cases. Viewers can see the “Henriot Quimper” signature on the bottom of a piece of Quimperware from Brittany, a tin ingot from the Poldark Tin Mine in Cornwall, a genuine piece of Tartanware and Edinburgh Crystal from Scotland, etc. More than twenty items are always available for display. Photographs showing many of the objects in the display follow this copy.
Our Website: www.nachs.info contains many resources to the Celtic world. Various links will take you to musical, historical, linguistic, social, and heritage sites. The “E-mail Us” button allows you to ask about a particular interest of yours and get a “real person” response.
